✓ Method A: Fuel Pump Access Panel

Applicable to: Most Toyota sedans, hatchbacks, and some SUVs

Toyota provides an access panel (typically under the rear seat) allowing fuel pump module removal without full tank drop. The fuel can be extracted through the pump opening.

Advantages: Faster, less labour intensive, lower cost

When Tank Drop Still Required:

• Engine was started/driven on contaminated fuel (full flush needed)
• AdBlue or water contamination
• Contamination level exceeds 10% of tank capacity
• Tank inspection required

✓ Method B: Full Tank Removal

Required for: Hilux, Land Cruiser, Prado, Fortuner, Hiace (most variants), commercial vehicles

These vehicles do not have an interior access panel. Toyota's service procedure requires fuel tank removal to access the fuel pump or drain the tank.

Always required when:

• No access panel fitted (Hilux, Prado, Land Cruiser, etc.)
• Engine was started/driven on contaminated fuel
• Tank inspection needed
• Heavy contamination or debris present
